I am working on a novel about four urbanites and how their lives intertwine with each other. I'm now a bit stuck, however, because I'm finding that each of their stories are so compelling that writing separate stories might actually be more effectual, in terms of connecting with my reader. What do you guys think I should do? Should I stop the major story and start working on the splintered, or should I let the splintered one be a sequel?

Re: One Story or Four Stories?
Thu, July 19, 2007 - 7:50 AMthe first question to ask is of length
are all 4 equal to a single novel?
or is each one novel length in itself?
the four stories can intertwine
yet be individual stories by themself
ala Pulp Fiction
if they are seperated into different books
drop the entanglements to a minimum
so they are almost self referential
ala Stephen King
if you are going with short stories
instead of a novel
you might consider it as a novella
with four chapters
each a short story that can individually be published
and read in a magazine
to garner interest for the bound copy book form
